Event for the International Day of Greek Language from the Professor Lefkada

Wednesday 9 May 2018, 19.30 Time, at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Lefkada

Since this year, 9 has been celebrated in schoolsη February as a World Greek Language Day with a circular from the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.

The event, which took place at the EPAL of Lefkada, included the history of Scripture (syllable scripts and alphabet), ancient inscriptions with various Greek alphabets, Greek words in English, Albanian and Turkish.

The excellent impression created by students and educators from the many unknowns that were presented, gave birth to the idea of a wider presentation to the audience of Lefkada. Furthermore, the idea of writing a relevant song, which can be made available to schools and interested citizens, was also born.

A helper in our effort has been a reputable personality of the social space of Lefkada, Philologist Gerasimos Aravanis. The ancient inscriptions from tombstones with the names of Lefkada, which are located at the Archaeological Museum of Lefkada, by 6ο to 3ο century BC The etymology and interpretation of the names will be presented by EPAL students at the event of the school.

The thorough and long-term study of the origins of the Alphabetus letters by the two authors of the book, supported by the ancient texts of the ancient Secretariat, from new archaeological and linguistic elements, was imprinted with scientific methodology. The book contains original material that challenges the status quo for the history of the Bible. We aspire to be another important cultural contribution of Lefkada in the Greek spirit in general.

The book is titled "The Hellenic Hellenic Alphabet", subtitle "The Origin of the Alphabet Letters from the Old Matrix of Greek Syllable Scripture", and will be available free of charge at the event of the school at the Intellectual Center.
